I compiled this list as a means of inspiration for car-free adventures, back when I lived in New York City and didn’t own a car. The theory was that I could take a train to any one of these stations and get on the Appalachian Trail, hike as long as I wanted, and then take another train back. I haven’t tested this theory yet, but if you happen upon this and end up being inspired, let me know!
